We’re all ‘friends’ here? The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health

Social media is used by most adolescents and young adults, and popular media features stories almost daily on linkages between mental health and social media use. Is social media turning young people in to depressed narcissistic zombies? This presentation will give helpers a brief overview of popular social media platforms, the emerging research as it relates to the connections between social media use and mental health, and offer assessment considerations for social workers when evaluating the impact of technology on client well-being.
